The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London has unveiled plans to offer guests natural drinking water from the River Thames as part of an eco-friendly initiative.
The 1,021 room four-star deluxe hotel, due to open in early 2010, will sell the water exclusively for guests.
The decision came after research by Swiss scientists, published last month, found the Thames to be the purest river in the UK.
Scientists tested triple filtered and purified water taken from the Thames against two leading brands of mineral water.
On sampling, 76.3% of 1,000 people preferred the Thames purified water compared with the two best selling mineral water brands which cannot be named.
The participants found the water best for energising and clearing the mind, the company announced today
