A tourism policy conference is to be held tomorrow by the Conservative Party.

The gathering in Brighton will discuss the findings of a report by former British Tourist Authority board member John Lewis, chairman of the Conservative tourism taskforce. It will cover the status of the sector and what needs to be done to maximise its future potential. The outcome of the conference will be used to help finalise a report to guide Conservative tourism policy at the next general election. Shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt and shadow tourism minister Tobias Ellwood as well as Bob Cotton of the British Hospitality Association are due to speak at the event. The summit was flagged up by Ellwood during last week’s best of Britain and Ireland trade show in London.
